The Corona-crisis has hit me hard and I’m sad to see all of us being forced to cancel gigs and stay at home. Despite the ‘lockdown’ currently active in some countries, it seems that music connects and inspires us all.

I’ve seen many great initiatives in the last few days, which inspired me to come up with an idea of my own: how great would it be if we all create a song, together, with our current possibilities.

You probably have a home studio or the possibility of recording audio. This week, we wrote the song ‘Shadows’. It’s a homage to all the medical staff, relief workers and volunteers who take care of us in these desperate times.

The idea is that everyone can add to the song. You can sing a verse, add a background vocal, record an instrumental part, et cetera. We’re aiming for a worldwide connection, where every musicians can contribute, and can become a part of this collective from the comfort of his or her own home. You don’t have to record the entire song, but the more the better and easier it will be for us to create something amazing. Also, if you want to help, please film yourself doing so (horizontally with your phone), so we can edit it into a video.

In order to make this as easy as possible for everyone, please take note of the
following:

• You can download all the single stems in this folder.
• The tempo of the song is 90 BPM, we prefer to stay in the grid.
• The best way to bounce a track is to start at the beginning of the song, so it’s
  easier to place it in the song edit. If not, count down from four before the track
  begins.
• Please deliver all your single tracks/stems in 44.1 kHz 24 bit WAV-file. (Also
  without any FX or compression, unless it’s your signature.)
• When you recorded a video, please do so horizontally with your phone and as
  bright as possible.
• Please put all your takes in one folder that has your name.
• When you’re ready, upload everything over here!
